A good palate is a blessing and a curse. In an era of fast food and multinational mediocrity, really good food can seem hard to find.
We at Gershgoods love food. We love to eat and are proud and privileged as distributors to earn our living tasting, and sharing our tastes, with our customers and friends.
Our suppliers are the makers and growers of the finest food products, the artisans of the oven, our Australian culinary heroes. We work with them, and they entrust us with the responsibility of maintaining their warehousing, sales, delivery and customer relations - so we become the distribution arm of their business. This allows them the time to make what they make so well, and to make more, so that we can all share their triumphs, and devour the fruits of their labour.
Our customers are select delicatessens and new food stores, independent grocers and corner general stores, quality butchers, fruiterers and fishmongers, health food stores and organic shops, discerning hotels, restaurants and caterers. Our customers are the retailers at the coal-face of the food industry, and those who understand the demands of those with discerning tastes, those that understand that food is so much more than just sustenance.
From grower to maker to distributor, and from retailer to the customer at the counter, we are all bound by a simple love of truly good food. Each of these links in the Australian fine food chain are important to us. Our relationships and understanding of the needs of our customers, suppliers and the consumer means we are better equipped to make the right choices and anticipate market trends and demand.
We understand the humanness of business, the individuality of enterprise and the stories that are attached to the growing, making, selling and eating of food. The gershgoods team are:
Darren Gersbach is the big-daddy of gershgoods. He is responsible for the maintaining and general management of the business, product selection, purchasing and supplier relations. Darren coordinates the sales team and all Toby's Estate coffee sales, and coffee machine maintenance.
Zoe Gersbach-Smith as Darrens life and business partner, she works with Darren in product selection and business management. Zoe also manages budgeting and accounts payable, and marketing and promotion.
Sharelyn Stankov manages the office and keeps the whole team working smoothly. Sharelyn efficiently and cheerfully responds to any enquiries you may have.
Luke Walker is the man for the job in Sydney's Northshore and in the Hunter Valley and Newcastle - conducting telephone and on the road sales.
Kim Johnson is a woman on a mission - conducting telephone and on the road sales in Sydneys East and West and Southern Highlands.
Chrissie O'Neill is the newest member of our sales team and takes good care of our blue mountains and central west customers
Fiona Garniss manages our accounts payable and ensures we always have cash flowing in to buy more goods.
Sue Warner oversees the running of the warehouse and the dispatch team, and ensures the safe storage of our precious goods.
Elliot Buchanan packs the orders and is the main muscles of the team.
Troy Soloman packs the orders and keeps the warehouse neat and tidy.
Greg Atkinson is the familiar face of gershgoods who makes your deliveries, and is our longest serving member of the team.
